Meum athamanticum - Spignel
This a Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire specialty.
Glabrous, aromatic perennial, stem hollow to 60cm, surrounded by fibrous remains of petioles at base. Basal leaves 3-4 pinnate, lanceolate to ovate in outline with lobes, 5mm crowded. The slender petiole expands to a large sheath at base. Few stem leaves and petiole entirely sheathed. Umbels with scabrid rays, bracts 0-2 and bracteoles 4-5. Flower white to pink and no sepals. Fruit, 7mm scarcely compressed with thick ridges.
